BH Flu Update: Changes to Our Visitor Policy

For the safety of our patients and colleagues, Beverly Hospital has made temporary changes to the inpatient visitor policy for our Maternal and Newborn Service Units (Mother/Baby Unit, Labor & Delivery and Special Care Nursery) in light of the severe flu season.

Effective today, January 28, 2019, we ask that people meeting the following criteria do not visit the Mother/Baby, Labor and Delivery and Special Care Nursery Units:

  • Children under 12 years of age (with the exception of well siblings of newborns visiting in a private room on the Mother/Baby Unit).
  • Anyone with the following symptoms:
    • Fever
    • Cough
    • Sore Throat
    • Runny Nose

At this time, this change only applies to our maternal & newborn service units.
These measures are designed to protect our patients, their families and our colleagues as visitors, especially children, may not know they have the flu. They may not show flu symptoms and can easily pass the flu on to others.

If you have any questions about the updated policy, please let one of us know.

Thank you for all that you do to protect yourself and others from the flu.
