Vaccine Information

From the Desk of Joseph Peppe, M.D.
Medical Director, Northeast PHO

Dear Colleagues,

As we approach the end of this most unusual year I want to share updated information related to COVID-19 locally as well as COVID-19 vaccination. Additionally, thank you for all you do each day to ensure patients receive high-quality health care and for the support colleagues provide each other during this difficult time. I recently came across a quote that I had first heard years ago but had forgotten, though it still rings true.

In an emergency, what treatment is given by ear? Words of Comfort.
Abraham Verghese, MD

Best regards,

COVID-19 Vaccination

From the Massachusetts Medical Society(MMS):

Unsure how to ready your practice for COVID-19 vaccination? The Massachusetts Medical Society (MMS) and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH) encourages you to follow these first steps:

The MMS is aware that hospitals, health centers, and some of the larger multispecialty group practices received the first round of the vaccine. The DPH anticipates that the next cohort will include private practicing non-affiliated COVID-facing primary care practices and their staff.

From the Massachusetts Health & Hospital Association (MHA):

The state is issuing a new Weekly COVID-19 Vaccination Report each Thursday based on data from the previous Tuesday. The report contains data on the amount of vaccine shipped to Massachusetts and to each of the state’s counties, the number of first and second doses administered to people, the age group and races of the recipients, and the practice type or location (hospital, pediatric practice, urgent care center, etc.) that is receiving the vaccine. To see the report each Thursday, click here and then click on Weekly COVID-19 Vaccination Report.
