Provider Referral Scripts

I’ve been seeing the same specialist for several years, and now you have referred me to someone I don’t know. Why can’t I continue to see the same doctor?

  • I am referring you to a specialist in my referral circle so that I can better coordinate your care. I am familiar with “specialist name” and confident that he/she is the right specialist for your care.
  • Arranging care within our network includes visit notes, lab and x-ray results. This provides a central point of care to collect the data the specialist requires. This is important because you want your appointment with a specialist to be as productive as possible and not repeat tests that have already been done

A friend of mine just had surgery at (out of BILHPN – Beverly LCU hospital) or with (out of BILHPN – Beverly LCU specialist) and highly recommended I go there as well for orthopedic, treatment. I would like a referral to this provider?

The patient disagrees with providers decision. What can I do?

If the patient requests a second opinion with (out of network specialist).

  • You do have second opinion benefits under your HMO plan—and this would be coordinated through my office using the qualified providers within my network. Let’s discuss your needs and expectations, and then determine which specialist you should see.
